About the
Carroll Electric Cooperative

For over 70 years, Carroll Electric Cooperative has been committed to providing reliable electric service to Carroll, Columbiana, Harrison, Jefferson, Tuscarawas and Stark counties. CEC is a non-profit organization providing electrical service to nearly 12,000 members.

Carroll Electric Cooperative works hard to provide members with state-of-the-art services that help reduce power usage and eliminate wasted energy. We work with cooperatives across the nation to ensure that our energy comes from the cleanest sources available. CEC continues to evaluate new programs that educate and provide a safe environment for our employees and members.

What is an Electric Cooperative?

Electric Cooperatives are unique in that our rates are based on the cost of doing business. That doesn't mean the CEC doesn't earn a margin; it means that we return this excess to our members. The return of this margin is called patronage capital credits.
At the end of each year, these net margins are allocated to each member on the basis of the dollar amount of energy used during that year.

Carroll Electric encourages our members to stay involved with the decisions CEC makes. In fact, the nine-member Board of Trustees is nominated and voted on by members.
